Donna L. (Yvon) Beattie

WESTFIELD: Donna L. (Yvon) Beattie, 73, (1947-2020) passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 25, 2020. She was born in Springfield to the late Donald “Donny” and Virginia “Ginger” (Graves) Yvon, was a 1965 graduate of Commerce High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Westfield State College in 1983, returning while she was raising 3 “very active” boys. Please note, the term “active” can be interpreted a few different ways. She was certified in Elementary and Special Education, and was employed in the Special Education Department for the Westfield School system for 18 years. She was fiercely loyal to family and friends…and TJ Maxx. Anyone who sat with her at a sporting event, was reluctant to do so again as she considered herself to be the best referee at the game. With that said, Mom did know her sports, and she was right on a lot of her calls. She was an avid cheerleader for all friends and family. Donna enjoyed gardening, cooking, bible study at Genesis House and summers at Cape Cod and Maine with her husband. She was also very fond of her time as one of the “Hookers” (rugs), spending many enjoyable days with her friends making beautiful creations. One of the things she looked forward to most was spending time with her grandchildren teaching them how to cook, garden, play sports, and study.

Donna is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Judge Philip A. Beattie of Westfield, her loving sons, Philip A. Beattie, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Milton, MA, Jeffrey D. Beattie and his wife Breeda of Westfield and Matthew T. Beattie of Westfield, her two sisters, Diane Yvon and her husband Bob Bovenschulte of Oregon and Debra Reardon (the much younger of the three sisters) and her husband Robert of Hampden, MA and her 4 cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Olivia her “only girl” out of the bunch boys, and David. She also leaves many close relatives, and friends. The family would like to especially thank all the health care providers/professionals who were so caring and comforting to Donna during her long battle.

All services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of Firtion Adams Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers donations in Donna’s name may be directed to Sister Caritas at Mercy Medical Center. www.firtionadams.com
