SOUTHWICK – Dr. Theodore M. “Ted” Kellogg, Jr., 88, a resident of this town since 1931, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Westfield, MA April 17, 1924, Ted was the son of the late Theodore M. & Helen (Bullock) Kellogg and brother to the late Ransford W. Kellogg.Ted was a 1942 graduate of Westfield High School, American International College in 1946, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a member of the Southwick Congregational Church, the Southwick Grange, Southwick Lion’s Club, and the American Osteopathic Association
Ted was an old-school family physician, well known for his firm but caring bedside manner. He was also the Town of Southwick Doctor, working with the Board of Health, as well as the school physician, giving physicals and inoculations to hundreds of Southwick Public School students. He retired after 32 years in practice, and earned his “pocket change” doing home improvement in Florida, and bottle redemption at Molt’s Liquors in Westfield.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Erma; daughter, Patti Fuller and her husband Kip of Southwick; son, John Kellogg and his wife Cathy of Clifton Park, NY; daughter, Kathy Molta and her husband Joe of Southwick; son, Jeff Kellogg and his wife Kathy of Southwick; ten grandchildren, Art, Scott, and Patrick Madrid, Danielle Kellogg, Brianne Kellogg DeRosa, Jordan, Anthony, and Gavin Molta, Sarah Kellogg Provencher, and Mitch Kellogg; four great-grandchildren, Rylee Madrid, Liam and Patrick DeRosa, and Andrew Kellogg; and a special niece, Jan Cammisa.
Funeral services for Ted in the Southwick Congregational Church with burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield will be held at a date to be announced. There are no calling hours. Southwick-Forastiere Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
