Joseph J. Dalton

SHIPPENSBURG, PA – Joseph James Dalton, 75, of Shippensburg, died Friday, March 8, 2013 at Hershey Medical Center. He was born Friday, September 10, 1937 in Westfield, MA, the child of the late Francis and Mable (Burl) Dalton.
Joseph graduated from Westfield High School in Massachusetts and enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 19. He served 22 years in the Navy, doing two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was employed as an engineer with Vitro Corp. a subcontractor for the Navy for 19 years and as a driver with Cressler Trucking for 10 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 223 and Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168 of Shippensburg. He loved the game of golf and played every tournament and opportunity that he could.
He is survived by his wife, Karin (Lehnert) Dalton to whom he was married for 52 years. He is also survived by two daughters, Teresa J. and husband Vince Vellardita, Belleair Beach, FL, Kimberly A. Dalton-Sparks and husband Arthur Sparks, Largo, FL; three sons, Thomas G. and wife Linette Haskin, Frederick, MD, Michael J. Dalton, Salt Lake City, UT, Dana S. and wife Karry Dalton, Rockville, MD; two sisters, Barbara Jenesky, Patricia Conroy, both of Westfield, MA; two brothers, Dennis and Robert Dalton, both of Westfield, MA; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Dalton.
Cremation services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg.
