WESTFIELD – Westfield State University’s junior designated hitter Colin Dunn, of Westfield has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week while freshman pitcher Vincenzo Camera (East Haven, Conn.) has been named rookie of the week Monday.
Dunn, a former Bomber, batted .556 (5-9) with three home runs, five RBI, five runs scored, three walks, a 1.556 slugging percentage and .615 on-base percentage in a 2-1 week for the Owls. Went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, a walk and run scored in the 4-2 win over Elms College. Went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI, two walks and four runs scored in the doubleheader split with Worcester State.
Camera tossed seven innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out two in the Owls’ 4-2 win over previously top-ranked UMass Boston.
The Owls are 10-9-1 on the season and 1-1-0 in the MASCAC.
Westfield State’s baseball game vs. Western New England on Monday, April 2nd has been postponed due to snow. The make-up date is still TBD and will be posted on WestfieldStateOwls.com when finalized.
