Elaine F. Noonan

Westfield – Elaine F. (Shepardson) Noonan, 71, (1945-2016) of Westfield, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pittsfield, MA on August 22, 1945 to the late Marshall and Octavia (Rome) Shepardson. Elaine grew up in Pittsfield, attended local schools and graduated in 1963 from Pittsfield High School. She was also a 1967 graduate of Westfield State College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Elaine taught in the Westfield Public School System and at St. Mary’s Elementary School for 10 years. She was an active communicant of St. Mary’s Church and served as an administrative assistant at St. Mary’s Rectory for 25 years. Elaine enjoyed cooking and baking and delighted her family with her delicious treats. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities. Elaine leaves her husband of 49 years, David R. Noonan, her son, Sean P. Noonan and his wife Diane of Taunton, MA, and her daughter, Sheila A. Byrnes and her husband Nathan of Westfield. She also leaves her grandchildren, Daniel Noonan, Patrick Noonan, Jack Noonan, Shea Byrnes and Riley Byrnes. She also leaves one brother, Jon Shepardson and his wife Kathy of Corona, CA and her sisters, Lois Nogueira and her husband Ben of Fitchburg, MA and Martha Rash of Harrisburg, PA as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St, Westfield, MA. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 11 AM. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Elaine’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Baystate Noble Hospital for their exceptional care and support.
