Elaine R. Avery

MONTGOMERYFlower Butterfly: Elaine R. Avery, 90, passed away peacefully at Governor’s Center August 4, 2015. She was born in Springfield to the late Jordan and Rigina Avery was a graduate of local schools and a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. She was a highly literate woman, well versed in World Literature, she had a very strong interest in world religious traditions. Elaine worked with IBM and UNIX systems for Dow Jones for many years, ran a book store in Wyben and worked and lived with her husband Harold on the Avery Farm Homestead in Montgomery, raising oxen and horses. Elaine loved and cared for all animals, was a strong animal rights activist and was an early environmentalist and was an avid gardener and horticulturist. She leaves her close friends, Martin and Adam Tomaszewski, who have continued to restore and upgrade to Avery Homestead to a traditional working farm. Elaine was buried in Pine Hill Cemetery on Court St. in Westfield next to her husband Harold. Arrangements were under the direction of the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
