WESTFIELD – On October 1, 2022, Elizabeth “Bette” A. Talmadge, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Daughter of Emma and Luigi Piacenza, she was born in Westfield and was a life-long resident. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, a former American Legion Post 124 Commander, Everett H. Talmadge. She leaves behind five children, Mark, Paula, Matthew, Michael, Ann and their spouses along with three grandchildren, Jason and Zachary Talmadge and Steven Rogalski.
Bette was the epitome of a mother and homemaker raising her five children instilling American morals and traditional values. Bette was an excellent seamstress, crafter and painter, decorating her home with her own handmade items and tole-style painted crafts. She was an expert gardener and loved being surrounded by beautiful flowers and enjoyed the wildlife in her backyard. Bette’s neighbors loved spending time with her as she walked through the neighborhood visiting. Neighbors stated that she will be greatly missed. Bette has now joined her lifetime partner “DaddyTal”.
