WESTFIELD: Elmer Elsworth Black, 78 of Westfield, MA, formally of Topsham, VT passed away October 21st surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in Randolph, VT. October 29, 1936. To Harold and Celia (Upham) Black. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed by Westfield Gage and International Beam Welding of West Springfield. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, and a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He and his wife enjoyed the last 10 years traveling to their winter home in Brooksville, FL. He loved to watch NASCAR races, gardening, making wind chimes, and camping. Elmer is lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years Lucinda (Frost) Black, sons Stephen and his wife Doreen of Middlefield, Timothy and his wife Joanne of Westfield. Grandchildren Kevin of Hendersonville, NC., Christine of Montgomery , Nicholas and Nathan of Westfield, Great grandson Atlas of Etowah, NC. His sister Edith and her husband Bernard Thurston of Newbury, VT, his sister-in-law Shirley Frost of Bellows Falls, VT. and many nieces and nephews. Elmer was predeceased by his son Richard in 1972, his parents, and his 3 brothers and 2 sisters. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Noble Visiting Nurse and Hospice, 77 Mill Street, Suite 102, Westfield, MA 01085.
