Westfield-Eunice H. (Hamann) Roche, 97, died peacefully Friday, December 7, 2018 in a local nursing home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield, MA on August 30, 1921 to the late Maximillan and Madeline (Elbert) Hamann. She grew up in Springfield and was a 1938 graduate of Classical High School. She worked at Mass Mutual Insurance Co. for 5 years and at the former Chapman Fuel Co. in Westfield as a bookkeeper for 24 years and retired in 1980. She was a volunteer for Pioneer Valley Hospice, Mosely Elementary School reading program grades 1-3 and for PGA Golf. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church. Eunice enjoyed golfing, sewing, walking on the beach, painting, writing group and the church book club. She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert T. Roche in 2005. She leaves her son Thomas F. Roche and his wife Sandra of West Moreland, NY, her daughter Maxine J. Kamlowski and her husband Frank of Westfield, her grandchildren, Patricia Kline and her husband Christopher, Sharon “Shay” Kamlowski, Jennifer Crockett and her husband Allan, Robert Roche and his wife Tonya, Cathy Schofield, Laura McHale, and Christine Bennett. She also leaves 5 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brother Frederick Hamann and her sisters Marie Chapman and Lenora Gleason. The family of Eunice would like to thank the staff at both Genesis Westfield Center and Western Mass. Hospital for the wonderful care that was given to Eunice. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 10 am in the First United Methodist Church, 16 Court Street, Westfield. The burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Eunice may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the Genesis Westfield Center Activity Fund, 60 East Silver Street, Westfield, MA 01085.
