Family bingo night to support Girl Scout award project

WESTFIELD-Westfield Technical Academy junior Morgan O’Connor is hosting a Family Bingo Night Sept. 22 in support of her Girl Scout Gold Award project – purchasing new water fountains for her school.

Morgan O’Connor, a junior at Westfield Technical Academy, is encouraging the public to attend a Family Bingo Night on Sept. 22. Funds raised will help support her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

The public event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church on Holyoke Road. The entrance fee is $5. Games will be played to win prizes and gift cards that have been donated by local businesses.

O’Connor, an Ambassador Girl Scout from Westfield Troop 40222, is seeking the Girl Scout Gold Award which is the highest honor that can be earned in Girl Scouting. As part of earning the award, a scout must carry out a project that has a lasting impact in her community and beyond.

Her project involves sharing information about the health benefits of water and the detrimental impact of disposable water bottles, as well as purchasing new water fountains for Westfield Tech that have improved filtering and provide a water bottle re-filling feature.

O’Connor’s concentration at Westfield Tech is graphic arts and communications.

For bingo players, additional cards may be purchased and there are several prizes of significant value that will require purchasing a separate card. Also, a raffle is planned for premier tickets to a Boston Celtics game, courtesy of Industrial Technical Services, Inc. Additionally, baked goods will be available.
