SOUTHWICK – A fatal car crash occurred in Southwick on Monday morning. The Southwick Police Department received a report at about 5 a.m. of a single motor vehicle accident on Feeding Hills Road, near the area of Great Brook Drive.
Once arriving on scene, first responders discovered that the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the north side of Feeding Hills Road, going across both lanes of travel.
The operator of the vehicle was transported to Baystate Hospital in Springfield and suffered minor injuries. The passenger in the front seat was transported to Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield. Southwick Police later received a report from Noble that the passenger had died.
Southwick Police Sgt. Thomas Krutka told the Westfield News that the identities of the people are currently being withheld during the active investigation by Massachusetts State Police and Sgt. Brad Fisk of the Southwick Police Department. Krutka did say that officers on the scene initially believed that black ice on the roadway contributed to the accident, but the official cause hasn’t been determined.
