WESTFIELD- The Westfield Fire Department is issuing a new burning permit procedure due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
The Fire Department Headquarters on Broad Street is closed to the public, so the new burning permit form will be posted online at the Fire Department’s web page at cityofwestfield.org.
The requirements to obtain a burn permit have not changed. Those wishing to burn brush should still call (413) 562-2329 between 9 a.m. and noon on the day they wish to burn to ensure that the weather conditions are appropriate. Open burning season begins Jan. 15.
Those who have already received a burning permit in the past do not need to take any action unless there has been a change of address or phone number.
