Frederick J. Wojick, Jr.

BELCHERTOWN – Frederick J. Wojick Jr., 72 (1946-2019) of Belchertown, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019. Born in Salem, MA on November 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Frederick J. Sr. and Mary (Kidney) Wojick of Salem, MA who moved to Westfield in the early 1950’s. He graduated in 1965 from Westfield Trade School and joined the Army later that year as a communications technician/lineman serving in Vietnam from 1965-1968. After the military he was married in 1968 and worked for local electrical contractors until he received employment at the Westfield Gas & Electric Light Dept. He worked there for 30 years starting as an electric lineman and serving as a foreman before retiring in 2002 at the age of 55. After Fred built a house in the Town of Russell in his early 40’s, with the help of his family and friends, he became active in his local community and served the Town of Russell as a Selectman for 15 years through his mid 50’s. He loved his career and enjoyed working with his fellow colleagues, but was looking forward to getting the opportunity to travel as soon as possible.

After retiring he started to travel all over the country, spending most of his time in Florida as well as visiting most southern coastal states with his wife Arja in their motorhome. They traveled constantly all over the United States as well as Ireland every year.

He leaves his wife Arja (Lehtolainen) Wojick of Ireland, her daughter Andria & husband Hermann & grandchildren Suvi and Darragh of Georgia. Fred is survived by his daughter Tammy (Wojick) Paiva of Belchertown with his grandchildren Stephanie and Casey Paiva along with his son Dana E. Wojick of Blandford, MA. He leaves his brother Daniel Wojick of Russell, his nieces Kelly and Wendi of Westfield and Ashley (Wojick) Murphy of Pearland, Texas. He was predeceased by his wife Linda (Cherbonneau) Wojick of Westfield in 1992, he leaves his step children Shawn Llosa, Christian Llosa, and Andrea (Llosa) Gibson and grandchildren Reese & Nessa Gibson and Emma Llosa.

A private funderal service was held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on September 6, 2019. The Williamsburg Funeral home was entrusted with his Cremation and Service.
