Westfield Vocational Technical High School is pleased to announce a few exciting additions to our Culinary Arts Department. Chef Julieanne Gamache and Assistant Jason MacLeod have joined Chef Phil Mucciarone in preparing our culinary students for the world of work or continuing education. Chef Gamache comes to WVTHS with instructional experience at Career Tech in West Springfield and Tantasqua Regional High School in Fiskdale. She also holds a B.A. in Hotel Restaurant and Travel Administration from the University of Massachusetts, a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from American International College, and a M.Ed. in Occupational Education from Westfield State University. Mr. MacLeod has a wide variety of cooking experience as well, most recently as the evening chef at Packard’s in Northampton. He is also a part-time student at Westfield State University majoring in education. Chef Mucciarone holds a B.A. in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University and has experience at a five star establishment in Boston as well as running his own Italian restaurant in New Hampshire. He began his teaching career at Chicopee Comprehensive High School and has been with us at WVTHS for the last twenty years. We look forward to the culinary experiences that this team will offer at Tiger’s Pride.
In case you didn’t know, Tiger’s Pride is the school restaurant operated by students at WVTHS. This school year, our restaurant will be open to the public Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for lunch from 10:45 a.m.—12:15 p.m. and will offer a mix of buffets and traditional a la carte menus. In addition to opening on Friday’s for lunch, our Ornamental Horticulture students are in the process of installing a patio for outdoor dining that will include a green wall with fresh herbs that will be used in our culinary creations. These projects will be completed for the spring of 2014. Tiger’s Pride will also offer a series of live performances on the restaurant stage throughout the school year, including shows by Westfield State University students and Dickens’ Days in November. Check out our Events Calendar on our website at http://westfieldwvths.sharpschool.net/calendar for performances and show times as they become available.
Please join us for our Grand Opening for the school year on Friday, September 27 with an all you can eat buffet for $6.50 per person. Our first buffet will have an Italian theme and includes several main course items, soups, salads, bread, desserts, coffee and tea. Please call (413) 564-3123 for more information.
