Gas & Electric closing lobby, suspending some services while continuing customer care

WESTFIELD – Westfield Gas & Electric March 16 announced changes to its policies in an effort to keep customers and employees from more contact than necessary.

A press release noted that the company “has always been committed to the safety and wellbeing of our customers, our employees, and our community. As the Coronavirus/Covid-19 situation continues to evolve, we rely on
health and safety information from experts to ensure the decisions we make are consistent with local
community, state, and federal standards.”

The Gas & Electric will continue to provide “basic critical services of gas, electric, and internet without interruption,” however, they will not be offering appliance service, inspections, or meter work. We are also cancelling Whip City Fiber installations and home visits in Westfield for the time being.

“Finally, we have decided to temporarily close the lobby to customers at 100 Elm St. until further notice. In the meantime, we will continue to provide the highest level of care and support over the phone, on our website, and on Facebook.”

Customers will still be able to contact the Customer Service line at 413-572-0100 and Whip City Fiber Tech Support line at 413-485-1204 during regular business hours. The Emergency service line at 413-572-0000 is available 24/7.
Westfield Gas and Electric General Manager Tony Contrino said “We appreciate your understanding
and support as we navigate this quickly changing situation. We wish for good health and safety for all.”
