HUNTINGTON – The Gateway Regional High School softball team improved to 4-2 overall (4-1 league) with a 12-6 win over visiting McCann Tech Friday.
Becca Wolfe went 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs to lead Gateway’s offensive attack. Gators’ pitcher Brooke Fairman (no walks) recorded five strikeouts in the victory.
Jessica Sunn hit two triples to lead McCann Tech, who rallied for two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings, before falling short.
BOMBERS SOFTBALL BELTS TACONIC: The Westfield High School softball team belted Taconic 16-1 in six innings Friday in Pittsfield to run its record to 7-0.
Jules Sharon (4-for-4, 4 doubles, 2 RBIs), Maddy Atkocaitis (2-for-3, 4 RBIs, HR), Lexi Minicucci (3-for-4, 3 RBIs), Kate Menard (3-for-5, 3 RBIs), Kate Puza (2-for-2), Sarah McNerney (1-for-1, RBI), Karly Mastello (2-for-5), Emily Chrzanowski (hit), and Jessie Pratt (hit) provided the offensive fireworks for Westfield.
Menard also pitched seven complete innings. She struck out four and walked none.
In other games, the Southwick JV team routed Central, 13-1.
