WESTFIELD – Shaun Gezotis scored two goals – one in each of the first and second periods – to lead St. Mary past Turners Falls 2-0 in high school hockey action Wednesday night at Amelia Park Ice Arena.
Ryan Gendron and Ashton Bourbonnais assisted on the first score. The second goal was unassisted.
Said Gezotis: “My team did a great job moving the puck (on that first goal) and I was just in the right place at the right time. When you get those chances you can’t afford to miss.”
Gezotis poked it away from the Turners Falls defensemen for the insurance goal.
“They had a tendency to go ‘D’ to ‘D’ and I saw it clear (on the second effort),” he noted. “I just went for it and was able to get the puck.”
St. Mary goalie Matt Brady (26 saves) earned a shutout in net.
“We tried to keep the shots outside, keep the rebounds, under control and let Brady handle the ones that came his way,” said St. Mary senior Ryan Gendron, of Southwick.
The Saints improved to 2-1.
