Gladys Edna Coffin (Moore)

WESTFIELD: Gladys Edna Coffin (Moore) passed away peacefully October 21, 2020, at the age of 100! She was born May 23, 1920 and lived in Westfield all her life. She was born in the house she lived in for 91 years. Her husband Harold “Duff” Coffin predeceased her in 1966 . She was a wonderful mother to her two sons, Robert (deceased) of Blandford and Richard of Southampton and her daughter-in-law Karen Coffin. She was a loving grandmother to 4 grandchildren, Robert (Robbie) Jr (deceased), Sarah Wilson of Oregon, Daniel Coffin of Westfield, and Melanie Coffin of Sixteen Acres. She also was a great grandmother and a great-great grandmother. She also leaves behind a beloved niece Sally Killips of Southwick and her husband Joe.

She was an avid gardener, fisherwoman and loved camping at Otis. She camped there with her husband and young children, who would later bring their families to “summer” at Otis. The cove at Otis was lovingly called “Coffin’s Cove” because year after year, the family would camp there as Host family campers. She loved fishing and belonged to 2 Sportsman’s clubs. She loved “out fishing” the men whenever she could. She loved ice fishing as well and always wore her “bear hat” and red flannel snowsuit to keep her warm and bring good luck. She loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener.

Many thanks to the Genesis Westfield Care Center in Westfield for the wonderful care they gave her during the last few years of her life. She will be missed by her loving family, but we will cherish the memories of a life well lived for 100 years! Boucher O’Brien Funeral Home in Easthampton has been entrusted with her care. There are no calling hours per her request. Donations may be made in her honor to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Jimmy fund.
