John Paul Cigal, Jr.

WESTFIELD: John Paul Cigal Jr., 48 passed away unexpectedly with his family surrounding him on October 20, 2020. John was born in Westfield on December 21, 1971 to the late John Paul Cigal Sr., and Gloria (Gennari) Penney. John grew up in Southwick playing street hockey as a kid, followed by years of wrestling as Team Captain at Southwick High School for which he graduated from in 1989. He went on to study Architecture at Hartford Technical and his life’s work and passion was in construction, eventually going on to own JPC Construction. Anyone that worked with John knew he was an extremely hard worker and took great pride in his profession. John married his high school sweetheart Kimberly Walsh and raised two beautiful children together in Westfield. John will be missed by everyone who had the chance to meet him. His larger-than-life personality, million dollar smile and big heart, is what drew people to him. He loved to have a good time with all his friends and family, cooking Italian food, traveling, and never missing a Dallas Cowboys game. He was smart, generous, and cared deeply for those around him.

John will be deeply missed by his true love and wife Kimberly Cigal of Westfield, his children Ashley Elizabeth Cigal of Westfield, and his son John Carlo Cigal of Westfield. His mother and step-father, Gloria and Bill Penney, his sisters Alysia Penney of Southwick, Kara Penney of CT, Lisa Cigal Orlandi of FL, his brothers Justin Cigal of Westfield and Jason Cigal of Toronto, Canada, and their mother Debra Cigal. Also, his mother and father-in-law Tom and Jean Walsh, his brothers-in-law Tom Walsh and Brian Walsh, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. John was predeceased by his father John Cigal Sr., in 2012.

Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 4 – 7 in Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick. Funeral Services will be Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11:00am in St. Mary’s Church, 30 Bartlett St., Westfield. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the “College fund for the benefit of Ashley and John Cigal” to MassMutual Federal Credit Union, 1295 State St. Springfield, MA 01111.
