Grace M. Pietrogallo

WESTFIELD – Grace M. (Amanti) Pietrogallo, 95, (1929-2024) passed away on Tuesday, December 31st, 2024 at Manchester Memorial Hospital in Manchester, CT with her children by her side. A lifelong resident of Westfield, MA, most recently she was a resident of Providence Place in Holyoke, MA for the last 5 years and loved her friends and community there. She was born in Lynn, MA to the late Emanuel and Margaret (Nicoletti) Amanti.

Grace worked in the insurance industry as an office administrator for many years. She was a member of the Palm Aire Women’s Club in Sarasota, FL, a former member of the Blandford Country Club, and was an avid bridge player. When she wasn’t playing cards, you could find her either with her nose in a good book, on the phone with Norm, cooking a delicious meal or shopping for a bargain. Winters in Sarasota and summers on Cape Cod brought her joy as did catching up over the phone with dear friends and family. Grace never missed the opportunity to acknowledge a holiday, birthday or anniversary with a thoughtful handwritten message inside a greeting card that she carefully selected for the recipient. Grace’s faith was a big part of her life; she enjoyed attending Mass at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel at Providence Place and was a communicant of over 50 years at St. Mary’s Church in Westfield.

Sadly, Grace was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years Louis Pietrogallo in 2015, her brothers Anthony Amanti, John Amanti, Vincent Amanti and Gerald Amanti, a sister Natalie Geleski and her husband Charles and a brother-in-law Anthony Pietrogallo and his wife Phyllis.

She is survived by her loving children, Susan Pietrogallo and her husband Robert Haggett of Glastonbury, CT and Richard Pietrogallo of Westfield. She was Nana to her three grandchildren, Dana Haggett, Kelsey Haggett and her husband Daniel Donahue and Andrew Haggett and his wife Samantha and newly Great Nana Grace to her great-grandchildren, Grace Donahue and Louis Haggett. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Norma Amanti of Westfield, Mary Amanti of Peabody and Mary Anne Amanti of St. Petersburg, FL and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. from the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett Street, Westfield. Burial will follow the Mass in Pine Hill Cemetery, Western Avenue, Westfield. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
