HUNTINGTON – Halton Maxx McCready, chose to leave us Thursday, January 31, 2013. Born in Springfield, MA on June 20, 1993, he grew up in Chester and moved to Huntington 4 1/2 years ago.Maxx was a 2011 graduate of Gateway Regional High School. He worked for Bert Hill Movers of Westfield. He was 19 years old, full of life and wit. Maxx lived to the beat of his own drum and when he wanted something he would go get it. Growing up he was a loving, funny and social child. He could make friends with anyone. Maxx gave the best hugs. Biking, music, sports, his friends and keeping busy were some things he loved. Was an athlete at heart. He gave his coaches a run for their money during the games, that including his father. His family enjoyed watching him play on the fields, shoot hoops and race his bike. He was natural at many things. He was nurtured by many in the community. Like the saying goes “it takes a village to raise a child” So many people touched his life.
He leaves his father, Stuart H. McCready and Sue Liimatainen of Huntington and his mother, Cynthia A. (Martin) McCready of Huntington; his brother, Zakary H. McCready and his wife Kimberly who is serving in the military; two sisters, Jennifer L. McCready and her husband Thomas Crean of Northampton and Annie M. McCready and her friend Matthew Naumowicz of Easthampton; his paternal grandparents, Peter H. and Mary A. (Pease) McCready of Huntington; his maternal grandmother, Thelma C. (Rosler) Martin of Westfield; several aunts and uncles, Aristeo Torres; Elizabeth Avalone; Gilbert Martin, Lisa Simmitt and Cheryl Leo; Ted and Tina Brewster, Howard and Cathy McCready and Cindy and Rich Bourgelas. Maxx will be missed by several cousins.
Along with his family he leaves his friends. Like every teenager, he wanted to spend as much time with them as possible. He told us “it’s not personal, it’s just what kids do”. Our fond memories, love and his infectious laughter is what we all will cherish going forward. Maxx will forever be in our hearts, much loved and kept close in mind. May he be in peace.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Worthington Congregational Church, Route 112, Huntington Road in Worthington, MA. Burial will be in the spring. Calling hours will be held at the O’Brien Hilltown Community Funeral Home, 27 Russell Road, Huntington, MA on Tuesday, February 5th from 1:00-3:00 and 5:00-7:00 p.m.
