WESTFIELD – Hector Rodriguez, 67, (1958-2026) passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, at Holyoke Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Westfield to the late Maria (Luna) and Jenaro Rodriguez, Sr., Hector lived a life defined by dedication, kindness, and devotion to those he cherished most.
Hector proudly served the City of Holyoke as a firefighter for 27 years, retiring in 2018 after a distinguished career of service to his community. Beyond his work, he found great joy in fishing, playing golf and baseball, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Vikings. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and love of family left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 45 years, Ruth M. (Rivera) Rodriguez of Westfield; his five cherished daughters, Adriana Lara and husband Alonso Lara of Greenville, NC, Ana Rodriguez and husband Mark Barner of Kissimmee, FL, Virginia Rodriguez of Westfield, Ivette Rodriguez of Westfield, and Nancy Barrios and husband Jose Barrios of Southwick, MA; his siblings, Gilbert Rodriguez of Puerto Rico, Maria Rodriguez of Orlando, FL, Norma Diaz and husband Miguel Diaz of Westfield, MA, Benjamin Rodriguez and wife Janis Rodriguez of Westfield, MA, and Antonio Rodriguez of Easthampton, MA; eleven beloved grandchildren, whom he adored dearly and cherished beyond measure; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jenaro Rodriguez, Jr., who was not only his sibling but also his best friend and lifelong partner-in-crime.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026, from 4–7 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Hector’s life on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett Street, Westfield.
