Helen J. Luntta

GRANBY: Helen J. Luntta, 91, of Granby, beloved wife for 58 years of the late Hans Arvid Luntta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, a day after her 91st birthday. Born in Westfield, MA on December 22, 1929, daughter of the late William and Valeria (Zinkus) Jegelewicz, she was raised in Westfield, MA and was a graduate of Westfield High School. After high school, she continued her education at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and received her certification as a Registered Nurse. Helen worked at Hartford Hospital for several years before leaving to raise her children. Helen moved to Granby with her family in 1955 and enjoyed her role as a homemaker caring for her husband and children. She served as a Girl Scout leader while her daughter was growing up and was involved in all of her children’s many activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening around her home, crocheting, and going to the Mohegan Sun Casino. After her husband’s retirement, she looked forward to taking day trips with him throughout New England. She was a parishioner of St. Therese Church in Granby for many years.

She leaves a daughter, Joan Keating and her husband Michael of Canton; a son, Paul A. Luntta and his wife Susan of Granby; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, David Luntta; two brothers, Peter and William Jegelewicz, Jr.; and four sisters, Ann Fedora, Gladys Lackovich, Valeria Levere, and Janette Akzamet.
