Longmeadow girls ice hockey

WESTFIELD – The seventh-seeded Longmeadow Lancers girls ice hockey team’s postseason journey continues.
The Lancers (13-2), who co-op with Westfield, Southwick, and Gateway high schools and opened the 2019 state Division 1 tournament with a 3-0 preliminary round win over No. 26 Brookline (11-10-2) at the Olympia in West Springfield last week, followed that up with a 6-1 win over Masconomet (12-8-2) at John A. Ryan Arena in Watertown over the weekend.
Next up for Longmeadow: a quarterfinal matchup with No. 15 Shrewsbury (14-5-3), a surprise 3-2 winner over No. 2 Duxbury (19-1-2). The game will be played Friday at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center at 4 p.m.
On Thursday, No. 3 Westfield (12-7-2) and No. 1 Longmeadow (14-5-2) collide in a Division 3 boys ice hockey championship title game at the Olympia at 8:30 p.m.
