James C. Terrett

WESTFIELD – James C. Terrett died on August 13, 2013 in Westfield. He leaves behind his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Rita M. (Servia) Terrett; his son, Mark J. Terrett and his wife Karen; a grandson, James E Mullen and his wife Erica and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Ann Mullen and a his great-grandson, John James Mullen. He also leaves a niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dudley and George and a sister, Katherine Wescott.
Jim served in the Field Artillery of the 25th Infantry Division in the US Army during WWII. He landed in the South Pacific at the Invasion of Guadalcanal and later in the Invasion of the Philippine Islands where he spent 42 months. Jim retired from Connecticut General Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1984 after 37 years of service. He was a Past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Pioneer Valley Trout Unlimited and received the chapter’s highest award “the Silver Trout” for his work in the conservation of fresh water and trout waters. An ardent fly fisherman and fly tyer he gave many demonstrations to organizations throughout the area. Jim was a member of St. Mary’s Church where he served as a lecturer and an usher.
The funeral will be Saturday, August 24th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett Street, Westfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are omitted.
