James D. Bryant

WESTFIELD – James Dietz Bryant, 71, (1948-2020) passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Baystate Hospital after a brave battle with COVID-19. He was born in Westfield, MA to the late Eugene D. and Janet Mae (Dietz) Bryant. He attended high school in Westfield and studied communications at the Leland Powers School in Boston, MA. Jim also served in the US Airforce before returning to Westfield. He worked at Micro Abrasives and Advance Mfg. in Westfield, before leaving the machine trade to work as a car salesman; a job at which he excelled because of his engaging smile and friendly nature. While living in Georgia, he also worked as a technician for the public school system; before returning to MA when he retired.

Jim was an outgoing and warm person with an infectious smile that could brighten anyone’s day. He had the ability to make everyone feel special and treated every person he knew like family. He had a quirky sense of humor and liked to make people laugh by telling corny jokes. Jim had a love for music and a wonderful singing voice. He sang in several local bands, with his brother, cousin and friends, over the years. He passed his love of music down to his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jill Anne Bryant and his sister Mary Ellen Brockmeyer. He is survived by his children; Michael Bryant and his wife Barbara, Karianne Morrison and her husband Dale, Kimberly Bryant and her partner Joshua Spear, and Lenny Jasmin and his wife Alyssa, all of Westfield, MA; and his brother; Ray Bryant of Leeds. He also leaves many cherished grandchildren; as well as numerous loving extended family members and friends.
