WESTFIELD – James Nels Jensen 94, beloved husband of Gertrude (Dzuris) Jensen passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, surrounded by his
family. He was born February 21, 1932 in Westfield, MA a son of the late Edward and Anna (Olsen) Jensen Sr.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, being granted the highest security clearances available. When Computer Science and Information Technology evolved in the 1950’s, James chose this for his career, with military training and continuing into his civilian life. This career took James and his family throughout the United States, including Texas, California, Maryland, Virginia, and even abroad to Germany while he worked with NATO.
But he always considered Granville his hometown, and he returned to settle there on Barnard Road for 50 years.
In addition to his wife Gertrude, James is survived by two daughters; Kimberly Susan Jensen (partner Lori) of The Villages, FL and Tamara Jensen Lucente (husband Rocco) of Southington, CT, grandchildren Meghan Lucente Mezzoni and Zachery Lucente, and two great grandchildren.
Private cemetery services with military honors will be held for the family in Granville, Massachusetts.
