Joan Norine Solek

SOUTHWICK – Joan Norine Solek (Lamb), 87, of Southwick, Ma, died December 15, 2019 in her home surrounded by family and friends.

Joan is predeceased by her husband John Solek of 69 years and her parents Franklin and Edna Lamb. Joan is survived by her three children Robert (Bobby) Solek and his wife Ruth-Ann, Richard (Ricky) Solek and his wife Carrie, and Sondra (Cindy) Solek Pendleton and her husband James (Jimmy). Joan is also survived by 9 grandchildren Carol Lisella, Deric Solek, Justin Solek, Jessica Solek, Lindsey Pendleton, Richard (Ricky) Solek, Laurin Pendleton Price, Joshua Solek, Caitlin Solek, and 9 great grandchildren Jennifer, Tony, Harlow, Colton, Vasilis, Brynlee, Hayden, Everett, and Mason.

After raising her three children, Joan went back to school and received many certifications ranging from law to income tax preparation. Joan then opened her own income tax and bookkeeping business. Joan loved dogs, reading Danielle Steel and Nora Roberts novels on her 3-season porch and her back deck, collecting Hummels, gardening, going to her grandchildren’s soccer games, the color purple, and she loved to put salt on everything.

A special heart-felt thank you to the Baystate Hospice nurses, especially Amy Cherry-Hathaway along with the CNAs Betty Brown, Mary Dolan, Tracy Solek, Nancy Wenzel, and Debbie Merriam who provided round the clock care for Joan and her family. Your exceptional care and compassion will always be remembered.

The Public is invited to calling hours at Avalon Life Celebration & Cremation Center, 691 College Hwy., Southwick, Massachusetts on Thursday, December 19, 2019, from 5-7pm. The family will hold a private burial in Southwick Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the Southwick Fire Department or the Southwick Police Department.
