John A. Killips

WESTFIELD – John Andrew Killips, 85, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home. He was born in Westfield to the late Andrew and Mary (Flanigan) Killips. Jack, as everyone knew him, served his country in the United States Navy from 1952- 1956 during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid. After his service, Jack was employed with the Westfield Fire Department for 10 years. He was employed as an underwriting service supervisor for Industrial Risk Insurers in Hartford, CT. and retired in 1995. Jack was a member of American Legion Post #124 in Westfield for 61 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Holy Trinity Church golf league for many years. He spent his retirement with winter-time trips to Florida, household projects, and always maintaining his beautiful house and lawn. Jack always made time to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events and loved watching them play. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Jack is survived by his loving and beautiful wife of 63 years Sophie (Zawada). He leaves his daughter Kathy (Killips) Ludorf and her husband Ronald of Southwick, his son Michael and his wife Lisa of Westfield. Sadly, he was predeceased by two sons, Paul and Patrick. He leaves his loving grandchildren Jessica, Cole, Andrew, Ryan, Jackie and Matthew and one great-grandchild, Penelope. He also leaves a brother Joseph and his wife Sally of Southwick, MA, his brother Robert predeceased him.

Calling hours for Jack will be held on Thursday, February 13th from 5-8 Pm at the Firtion- Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. His funeral will begin on Friday at 9:00AM at the funeral home with a liturgy of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Church in Westfield. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
