Joseph F. Mayeros, Jr.

WESTFIELD – Joseph Francis Mayeros, Jr., 90, passed away on April 6, 2020 with family at his side. Joe was the son of Helen (Lucas) and Joseph F. Mayeros, Sr. He graduated with the Class of 1948 and later joined the United States Coast Guard and served on the Yanaguska and Pontchartrain as Engineman 2nd class during the Korean War. After getting discharged from the service he went on a fishing trip to Vermont, where he met Therese Tretowicz from West Rutland, VT on a blind date and has been his wife for 66 years. Joe always looked forward to his favorite sports of hunting and fishing and also enjoyed a game of golf and working in the garden. He was always right there to offer his help at the St. Peters Church Bazaars and breakfasts and loved to help out the Knights of Columbus. Joe was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 124, the Lake George Sportsman’s Club and the Slovak Club in Westfield. He loved every minute of it. Joe was employed for 28 years at Berkshire Industries as a tool designer and retired in 1992.

Leaving his wife Therese and his daughters, Vicki Lincoln and husband David from Westfield and Jane Willemain and husband Rene from Naples, FL. He also leaves a brother William Mayeros and his wife Betty from Horsham, PA and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sr. Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104. We can’t thank enough the wonderful care and treatment shown by Laura, Marissa, Cindy and all working with the second nurses station at Sr. Caritas, they are all cancer Angels. Burial will be held in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
