Marlene K. Bannish

WESTFIELD – Marlene K. (Laduzenski) Bannish, 84, died Monday, April 6, 2020 in Baystate Noble Hospital. She was born in Holyoke on September 19, 1935 to the late Alphonse and Sophie (Banas) Laduzenski. She was a graduate of Chicopee High School and Holyoke Community College and worked as a Medical Secretary for a short time. She dedicated the majority of her time raising her children then worked alongside her husband and sons at their family business, Bannish Lumber in Chester. Marlene also spent many years volunteering and advocating for the mentally handicapped population and was the inspiration and driving force in establishing group homes for them in the area to improve their quality of life and promote integration into the community.

She was pre-deceased by her son Seth and husband Harold “Bud” whom she was happily married to for almost 60 years. She leaves her children Matthew and his wife Beverly, Thaddeus and his wife Laurie, Aaron and his wife Becky (all of Westfield), and her daughter Samantha and her husband Dwayne of Belton, TX. She also leaves her brother Eugene and his longtime companion Alice of Evans, GA., as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
