Saturday, July 7, 2012
1:16 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Road, a patrol officer reports he stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and a routine check revealed that the operator’s license had been suspended for possession of a Class A drug and that he was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Kenneth Schubert, 38 Florence Ave., Holyoke, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, for a motor vehicle lights violation and on the warrant;
1:42 a.m.: vandalism, Main Street, a caller reports she was awoken by a smashing noise and found her vehicle had been vandalized, the responding officer reports that the caller said that when she investigated the noise she found that the rear window of her car was shattered, apparently by a brick found on the ground behind the car, no entry was made into the vehicle;
10:00 a.m.: found property, William Street, a patrol officer reports a passerby surrendered a wallet reportedly found on William Street, the officer reports he was able to return the wallet to its owner;
10:00 a.m.: fire, Vincent Drive, firefighters report illegal burning was found, the fire was extinguished;
12:14 p.m.: breaking and entering, Church, Street, a resident came to the station to report his vehicle was broken into and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the complainant said that his unlocked vehicle was entered between 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. and a hand tool and a sheath knife were stolen, the victim said that a GPS device and golf clubs which had been in the vehicle were not disturbed;
3:25 p.m.: assist citizen, East Silver Street, a caller reports being locked out of a running vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was made to the vehicle which had been running for about an hour;
4:45 p.m.: fire, East Mountain Road, a caller reports a recreational vehicle is on fire, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports the operator said that he the vehicle stalled and became engulfed in flames when he and others were pushing it out of the roadway, the responding firefighters report the camper was fully involved upon arrival and extinguished, the firefighters report the owner said that a fire in the engine compartment had been extinguished but flared up to involve the whole vehicle;
6:02 p.m.: disturbance, Lincoln Street, a caller reports her father punched her face, the responding officer reports the woman said that during an argument with her father the man bit her face and also pulled her from a couch and threw her to the ground, the officer reports he observed no signs of injury, the officer spoke with the male party who acknowledged pushing his adult daughter, Daniel T. St. Jean, 50, of 15 Lincoln St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
6:59 p.m.: narcotics violation, Lincoln Street, a caller reports discovering her father’s illicit drugs, the responding officer reports three crack pipes and a bag containing crack residue were seized;
9:09 p.m.: fire, Russell Road, a caller reports a camp fire near the river may not have been completely extinguished, the responding firefighters report the remains of a camp fire were found within a few feet of the water and the fire was completely extinguished;
9:45 p.m.: fire, Root Road at Russellville Road, a caller reports seeing the glow of a large fire, the responding firefighters report no fire was found and the glow was apparently due to fireworks in the area;
10:11 p.m.: disturbance, Conner Avenue, a caller reports the noise from several parties staged by neighbors is creating a disturbance which is keeping her child awake, the responding officer reports no music was a found but a neighbor with a large bonfire was urged to extinguish his fire with a garden hose;

2:57 a.m.: breaking and entering, Pochassic Street, a caller reports uninvited guests at a gathering and that property has been stolen, the responding officer reports a man seen nearby on a railroad track fled upon the approach of an officer and was detained, Nathan Madera, 18, of 53 Crown St., was arrested for trespassing on railroad tracks, during the booking process the man was found to be in possession of a makeshift pipe containing marijuana residue and a city ordinance citation was issued, the caller reported that she discovered a cell phone and a iPod Touch device had been stolen during the gathering and suspects the uninvited guests are responsible;
12:19 p.m.: robbery, General Shepard Apartments, 25 Thomas St., a caller reports that while he was walking to a nearby store a young man walking past took the wallet from his pocket and fled, the man returned to his home before calling police, a search of the area yielded no suspects;
12:39 p.m.: larceny, Locust Street, a caller reports a teak bench valued at $200 was stolen from his yard, the responding officer reports the caller said that the bench was not visible from the street, the man said a neighbor told him that voices were heard in the area about midnight but no report was made to police;
4:24 p.m.: vandalism, Cardinal Lane, a caller reports yard lights and ornaments were damaged, the responding officer reports the caller said that four ornament lights valued at about $90 each were vandalized between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.;
4:54 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Road, a traffic bureau officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:25 p.m.: fire, Franklin Street, a caller reports seeing smoke in the area of Franklin Street, the responding firefighters reports a May Street resident was found to be burning papers in a barrel, the fire was extinguished;
8:37 p.m.: recreational vehicle complaint, Hampton Ponds Boat Dock, a caller reports personal watercraft are operating at high speed without lights, the responding officer reports the jet skis were not on the water when he arrived but he found an unregistered trailer at the boat ramp, the trailer was towed to the police impound yard;
9:46 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating on North Road at an estimated 60 mph and used radar to determine that the car was traveling at 64 mph in a 40 mph zone, the car was stopped on North Road, and a routine check revealed that the operator’s license has been suspended, Cecilio Gonzalez, 33, of 149 Essex St., Holyoke, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for speeding;
10:17 p.m.: officer wanted, Westbridge Manor, 81 South Maple St., a caller reports a six-year-old boy is outside asking for help, the responding officer reports he spoke with an unattended boy who said his younger brother was inside their home alone, the officer reports he found that the boys’ father had gone to a nearby store without realizing that the children’s mother was outside speaking with a neighbor, the Department of Children and Families was notified.
