12:33 a.m.: vandalism, The Willows Apartments, 19 Lockhouse Road, a caller reports the rear window of his car was smashed, the responding officer reports the caller said that the window was known to be intact about midnight but was subsequently found to be shattered;
12:34 a.m.: noise complaint, a caller reports loud neighbors have a bonfire, the responding officer reports the resident was very cooperative when asked to turn off his music and extinguish the fire;
1:07 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the operator’s license was found to have been suspended, the SUV was towed to the police impound yard;
5:14 a.m.: smoke, Airport Industrial Park Road, multiple callers report smoke in the area, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports persons were found to be camping in an area of sand pits with a fire, the three persons were identified and required to extinguish the fire, the officer reports the trio was advised that the area is not a campground, the campers struck their tents and were advised of the possible consequences of returning to the area;
9:44 a.m.: fraud, Prospect Street Extension, a resident came to the station to report credit card fraud, the responding officer reports the complainant said that months previously he had received a credit card he had not applied for but did not activate it and put it out of his mind, the man said that recently he has been dunned for a balance on the account of more than $1,000, the man said he has contacted the credit card company, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
9:48 a.m.: assault North Elm Street, a resident came to the station to report he was assaulted after a road rage incident, the responding officer reports the complainant said that after he passed a vehicle on North Elm Street the other operator took exception to his driving and both vehicles pulled into a parking lot, the complainant said that he and the other man yelled at each other before the other man got back in his vehicle and accelerated towards him twice, braking at the last moment, and forcing him to jump on the hood of his assailant’s vehicle, the man said he would like a report to be filed so he can seek a criminal complaint in Westfield District Court;
9:58 a.m.; vandalism, Paper Mil Elementary School, 148 Paper Mill Road, a caller reports a classroom window was smashed, the responding officer reports a custodian said that the window (which he valued at $200) has a baseball sized hole and said that neighborhood children frequently play ball in the school yard;
11:13 a.m.: assault, Hagan Drive, a resident came to the station to complain that a neighbor has been harassing him since he complained about his dog, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he complained about a neighbor’s dog in May and since then his neighbor has been instructing his dog to perform his bodily functions on the complainant’s property, the officer reports he was able to seat both parties down together to talk, the officer advised both parties to stay away from each other;
1:08 p.m.: weather complaint, municipal parking lot, Thomas Street, a superior officer reports he was advised that a tree limb fell on an unoccupied vehicle parked in the municipal lot, the responding officer reports the hood of the legally parked car was damaged but he was unable to immediately inform the owner;
1:37 p.m.: well being check, East Main Street, a caller reports a small child has been left unattended in a car parked in an East Main Street parking lot, the responding officer reports a community policing officer brought a booster seat to the scene, the officer reports the Department of Children and Families was notified;
2:12 p.m.: traffic complaint, East main Street, a caller reports bags of cement in the roadway are causing a traffic hazard, the responding officer reports four bags of cement were found in or near the roadway and three had split releasing a cloud of concrete dust, the DPW was notified and responded to clean up the spill;
2:25 p.m.: assist citizen, Malone Avenue, a caller reports that his former wife’s current boyfriend is babysitting his two daughters in violation of a probate order, the responding officer reports that the man caring for the children was very cooperative and the children left with their father;
2:28 p.m.: animal complaint, Clifton Street, the animal control officer reports he received a loose dog complaint and responded to again advise a known party that he may not allow his dogs to run free, the ACO reports the man was told that he will be cited if there are any further similar complaints;
2:36 p.m.: larceny, Chapel Street, a community policing officer reports he advised the manager of a local supermarket that an identified man had taken one of the store’s shopping carts;
3:35 p.m.: larceny, Dubois Street, a caller reports some of her pain medication was stolen, the responding officer reports eh woman said that she had been sitting outside her residence when a relative unexpectedly came to visit, the caller said that the woman was briefly inside the residence without supervision and appeared to be nervous and left abruptly when she came back outside, the caller said that she then discovered that some of her pain medication was missing from her purse which had been inside near the door;
4:40 p.m.: arrest, Elm Street, a community policing officer reports he observed a known person believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, the warrant was confirmed, Richard C. Kirby Jr., 31, of 118 Elm St., was arrested on the warrant;
5:18 p.m.: vandalism, Murray Avenue, a resident came to the station to report that once again mustard has been smeared on her car, the responding officer reports that the woman said that between 5 p.m. on Sunday and 4 p.m. Monday mustard was put on the hood and trunk of her car as it has been done several times previously, the woman said she cleaned the mustard off her vehicle without damage, the complainant does not require a formal report but wants the incident documented;
7:21 p.m.: larceny, Pearl Street, a caller reports antique flower pots have been stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that four large flower pots which he estimated to be worth $1,300 were known to have been in place about 2 p.m. Sunday and were found to be missing at 8 a.m. Monday, the victim said that the pots weigh about 150 pounds each and the chains securing them to his porch had been cut;
7:46 p.m.: arrest, Mechanic Street, a state trooper from the Lee barracks called to report that a city resident was believed to have violated a protective order and was the subject of a warrant, the responding officer reports that the suspect was found at his Mechanic Street address, Isaac J. King, 37, of 96 Mechanic St., was arrested on the warrant;
11:49 p.m.: trespassing, Stanley Park, 400 Western Avenue, a caller reports hearing youths in the park near the picnic area, the respond officer reports five youths were found and identified, no damage was found and the children were sent on their ways with a warning to stay out of the park when it is closed.
