1:35 a.m.: accident, City View Road, a caller reports a single vehicle accident, the responding officer reports the operator had exited the vehicle and was not injured, the operator told the officer that he had been traveling at about 40 mph when he swerved to avoid a pothole and lost control of his vehicle, the officer found the car had skidded 258 feet before leaving the roadway and striking a tree whereupon it rolled over, the officer reports no pothole was found in the area;
2:43 a.m.: fire, Apple Blossom Lane, a caller reports electrical wires are on fire, dual response dispatched, the responding firefighters report they stood by at the scene while a G&E crew effected a repair;
3:53 a.m.: weather complaint, Union Street, multiple callers report a fallen tree is blocking the roadway, the DPW was notified and dispatched a crew, the officer reports the tree was cleared and the road reopened by 5:16 a.m.;
11:00 a.m.: city ordinance violation, North Elm Street, a code enforcement officer reports he observed a “Transportation Services” vehicle which is not licensed as a taxi cab in the city pick up a passenger, the officer stopped the vehicle and reports that the passenger said that she was in a hurry to get kidney dialysis, the officer reports when he asked the woman where she received the medical services she did not answer, a citation was issued which the operator refused to sign;
11:40 a.m.: unauthorized burning, Day Avenue, a caller reports a fire, the responding firefighters report a resident was burning in his back yard, the firefighters report the resident was advised of the pertinent city ordinances and extinguished the fire;
11:44 a.m.: animal complaint, Springfield Road, a caller reports a dog is inside a parked van which has windows slightly open, the responding animal control officer reports that the dog was removed from the vehicle, the interior temperature of the vehicle was measured at 104 degrees, a note was left on the windshield advising the owner that the dog had been transported to the Westfield Animal Shelter;
12:05 p.m.: counterfeiting, North Elm Street, a resident came to the station to report he received a counterfeit bill at a North Elm Street gas station, the responding officer reports the victim was reimbursed for the note and the business will surrender the bill to the Federal Reserve Bank;
12:41 p.m.: recovered motor vehicle, a Huntington Resident came to the station to report the vehicle she reported stolen earlier has been recovered, the responding officer reports the woman said that her parents contacted the suspect who advised them where the car was parked;
1:07 p.m.: parking complaint, Brimfield Way, an elderly woman with an oxygen cart came to the station to complain of a vehicle which chronically is parked on the sidewalk forcing pedestrians such as herself into the street, the responding traffic bureau officer reports the woman brought five photographs of a pickup truck illegally parked on the sidewalk, the officer reports he spoke with a woman associated with the vehicle was said she thought that she could park on the sidewalk because her driveway crosses it, the woman was educated on the issue and agreed to stop parking on the sidewalk;
2:18 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to be unregistered, the vehicle was towed;
2:39 p.m.: threat to commit a crime, Westfield District Court, 224 Elm St., a resident came to the station to complain that she has been threatened by her former landlord, the responding officer reports the woman said that a court case brought by her former landlord requires her to pay the man a settlement and said that she had been trying to arrange payments but the man had insisted on a lump sum payment, the woman said that they went back to court where the man demanded $100 per week but the judge ruled that she should pay him $100 per month, the woman said that as they were leaving the court house the man made threats against her, the woman was advised to seek an harassment order to protect herself from the man;
4:40 p.m.: assist motorist, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street gas station requests that firefighters certify that fire in a vehicle which had burned earlier had been fully extinguished before it is towed from the station, services rendered;
7:19 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Main Street, a patrol officer reports that a vehicle found to have expired registration was towed to the police impound yard and the operator was issued a criminal citation;
9:19 p.m.: incapacitated person, Elm Street, a caller reports an intoxicated person on Elm Street, the responding officer reports he identified a person found walking on Elm Street who emitted an odor of alcohol and was swaying on his feet, the man told the officer that he was not welcome at the Samaritan Inn, the man was deemed to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed in protective custody;
10:07 p.m.: suspicious activity, Pinewood Lane, a caller reports a possible camp fire in the woods, the responding officer reports he saw three persons around a very small camp fire on an island in the river but he was unable to get to the island;
11:27 p.m.: New Broadway Street, a caller reports taking custody of a husky dog, the responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the Westfield Animal Shelter.
