1:37 a.m.: trespassing, Half Mile Falls Park, routine video surveillance of the park revealed persons in the park, the responding officer reports more than ten youths found on the sidewalk outside the park were advised of the pertinent city ordinances and sent on their ways;
1:41 a.m.: trespassing, Chapman Playground, St. Paul Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a group of persons eating in the park who he had been in the playground earlier, the group was strongly advised to leave the park, they apologized and complied;
11:08 a.m.; motor vehicle violation, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle on Union Street which he had previously been advised was owned by a known person whose license had been suspended and who was the subject of an outstanding warrant, the officer stopped the vehicle and found that it was operated by another person but the owner was found nearby operating a rented car, Wilmer Figueroa, 32, of 134 Union St., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and on the warrant, both vehicles were towed to the police impound yard;
1:29 p.m.: suspicious activity, Great River Bridge, Elm Street, a detail officer reports he was advised of youths swimming in the river, the responding officer reports he spoke with members of a family found swimming in the river and pointed out signs prohibiting swimming in the area, the officer also reports he encountered a group of younger children who were not with the first group and directed them to the spray park;
2:26 p.m.: larceny, Fowler Street, a resident came to the station to report that a bottle of pain killing medication was stolen from her home, the responding officer reports the woman said that between July 12-13 a bottle contained about 200 pills was stolen from her home, the woman said several family members were in the residence during that time period and she suspects one of them took the medication but she has no evidence to support her suspicion;
3:09 p.m.: attempted fraud, Servistar Industrial Way, a caller reports she was contacted by phone by a person who claimed that her brother had been involved in an accident which damaged the caller’s car and said that he would kill her brother if she did not send him $2,000 via Western Union, the complainant provided the caller’s phone number as displayed by her phone and an investigating detective recognized the number as one which had called his phone earlier which he had not answered, the detective called the number which was found to originate in Florida and spoke with a male party who made a similar claim about the detective’s brother but, when the detective asked for a name and address so he could send the man a check, the suspect demanded payment by Western Union money transfer, no payment was made;
6:34 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a traffic enforcement officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to be operated by a person with a suspended license, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
7:31 p.m.: found property, Casimir Street, a caller reports seeing a hypodermic needle in the former St. Casimir’s Church parking lot, the responding officer reports the needle was disposed of properly;
7:56 p.m.: found property, Roosevelt Avenue, a caller reports finding a rifle by the side of the road, the responding officer reports the rifle is a toy, an air soft gun, and was transported to the station for proper disposal,
10:45 p.m.: fire, Colony Circle, a caller reports smoke under a handicap ramp, the responding firefighters report bark mulch under the ramp was smoldering and was extinguished.
