LaMotte Sets Records At NE Championships

All-New England swimmer Kirsten LaMotte

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – Westfield State University junior Kirsten LaMotte (Amherst) set school records in the 50 and 100 breaststroke events during the opening two days of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) championships Feb. 8-9.
LaMotte placed fourth in both events to earn All-New England honors. She was clocked in 31.27 in the 50 breaststroke and 1:08.44 in the 100 breaststroke. LaMotte re-set the schools records of 31.92 and 1:09.94 that she had established at last year’s NEISDA championships.
LaMotte was also a member of the 200 medley relay team that placed ninth in 1:58.22, just missing All-New England honors. Other team members were Amanda Labriola, Haylee McQuay and Katie Cox.
No other Owls earned All-New England accolades during the first two days of the three-day championships, which conclude Sunday.
Westfield is currently in 13th place in the 21-team meet.
