Ledora Ann Harrington

SOUTH HERO,VT-Ledora Ann Harrington (Beahn) of South Hero, VT, passed away suddenly on January 10, 2015 in Colchester, VT. Ledora was born on April 15, 1948 in Westfield, MA. Known to many in the area by her childhood nickname “Tootie,”Ledora was an active member of her school and community. Her big heart contributed to the myriad of philanthropic activities she provided to her community while she resided in Western Massachusetts. From candy striper to volunteer EMT, Ledora’s heart always led her to help others in need. Ledora raised her family in Huntington, MA, where she was a devoted member of her daughters’ education. Ledora was the Varsity Cheerleading coach at Gateway High School, where she was able to coach with pride her two beloved daughters.

In 1991 Ledora with her husband William moved to Vermont. Always the boating enthusiasts, the inviting shores of Lake Champlain quickly became home. Moving to Vermont however did not change Ledora, known to her many Vermont friends as “Lee” quest to aiding her community.

Lee was the daughter of the late Leon and Dorothy Beahn, and is predeceased by her brothers; Kenneth and Robert.  She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, William H. Harrington III, whom she met after graduating from Westfield High School in 1966. On March 30, 1968 she married her best friend, Bill in Westfield, MA. She is also survived by her two daughters, Leah Harrington and husband Andrew Hills of Jeffersonville, VT; and Kerri Harrington and husband Carl Stagg of Bethlehem, NH. Her passing is also profoundly felt by Danny Bouffard, who was like a son to both Lee and Bill. Lee’s memory will be in the heart of many, especially her beloved grandchildren; Jocelyn, Myles, Coltrane, Emmett, Charlotte, and Stephan. A celebration of Lee’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 11am to 1 pm at the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton where we invite family and friends to come and share stories and memories of Lee.Memorial contributions may be made to the Laraway School Backpack Program, 275 VT Route15W, PO Box 621, Johnson, VT 05656.
