Letter: We can make Westfield schools a model of greatness

On Tuesday, Nov. 2, I am asking for your vote for one of the three four-year seats on the Westfield School Committee. As a member of the School Committee I’ll listen to your concerns and always make the future of our children a priority. As a career educator, United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) coach, a lifelong resident, and product of the Westfield Public Schools, I understand the challenges facing them as students. And I see the challenges facing the educators and staff-all professionals deserving of our support and respect.

When my family and I lost our mother, Sharon Merlo-Gosselin (Westfield School Committee 1997-2007), the city and school community graciously provided incredible support to our family.  I’d like to show my sincere thanks by continuing to give back to the schools. We have an opportunity to navigate the Westfield Public Schools towards the greatness it has known and become a model for school systems throughout the commonwealth. I will consistently demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to our school community. I ask for your vote on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
