Moe’s Westfield 6, Northampton 3

Top seed and undefeated Moe’s got four great innings on the mound from Grace Burke and two from Camille Bruno to outlast Northampton and their ace pitcher 6-3 in the second round of the 10u playoffs.
It was a scoreless pitchers’ duel until the bottom of the third when Allie Stucenski got the first of her two key hits when she singled off Northampton’s ace to drive in the first run of the game.
An inning later, Bruno hit a towering double to left to score Burke and Moe’s led 2-0.
Northampton came back with three in the top of the fifth however and led 3-2 going to the bottom of the fifth. Sara LaCross led off the inning with a single, which was followed by a walk to Nathalie Senez. Stucenski then got her second big hit of the day when she singled home LaCross to tie the game at 3-all. Northampton then retired the next two Moe’s batters and it looked like they might escape the inning with minimal damage but Bruno then followed with an infield single to load the bases. That brought up Katelyn Connor who showed a good eye and drew a huge walk that plated the go-ahead run. That was followed by run-scoring singles from Alaiyna Lapointe and Caitlyn Arooth as Moe’s exploded for four runs in the inning and stretched the lead to 6-3. That was more then enough for Burke who then closed it out in the sixth by striking out the first two Northampton batters then getting the next one on a comebacker to the mound. When Burke had thrown to first for the out, Moe’s had punched their ticket to the 10u championship game.
