Local Student Named to Hamilton College Dean’s List
Clinton, N.Y. – Kerri E. Grimaldi, daughter of Richard and Nancy Grimaldi of Westfield, has been named to the Dean’s List at Hamilton College for the 2013 spring semester.  To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.  Grimaldi, a rising junior majoring in English, is a graduate of Westfield High School.

Thomas Barron of Westfield Named to Dean’s List at Saint Michael’s College
COLCHESTER, VT – Thomas A. Barron, son of Theresa and Thomas Barron of Westfield was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester at Saint Michael’s College. Barron is a Junior English and Business Administration major at the liberal arts and sciences, residential Catholic college located in Burlington, Vermont, one of the top 10 college towns in America.
Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the Dean’s List.
Barron graduated from Westfield High School before coming to Saint Michael’s.

Local Residents Named to Stonehill College’s Spring 2013 Dean’s List

Mason Dunn-McDonagh of Southwick named to Dean’s List at Quinnipiac University
HAMDEN, CT – Mason Dunn-McDonagh of Southwick, MA has been named to the dean’s list at Quinnipiac University for the Spring 2013 semester.
To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.

Apryl Adelman Earn’s Bachelor’s Degree From Goodwin College
EAST HARTFORD, CT – Goodwin College is pleased to announce that Granville resident Apryl Adelman has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
Adelman received the degree on Thursday, June 6, when Goodwin College held Commencement on its River Campus in East Hartford. Goodwin is the fastest growing nonprofit College in Connecticut and Adelman joins a growing list of alumni Navigators.
Goodwin conferred its first four-year baccalaureate degree in 2011. This year, the College conferred 26 Bachelor’s Degrees at Commencement in Nursing, Child Study, and Health Science.
The College congratulates Adelman and all the 2013 grads, which include students who received Bachelor’s and Associate of Science degrees and completed certificate programs. In all, 570 students were conferred degrees or certificates.

Alexis Miller Earns Associate in Science Degree From Goodwin College

EAST HARTFORD, CT – Goodwin College is pleased to congratulate Alexis Miller on earning an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing. Miller, a resident of Westfield, was conferred the degree on June 6, 2013, when the College celebrated Commencement.
In all, Goodwin College awarded 584 Bachelor’s or Associate in Science degrees and certificates to a total of 570 students. Miller was one of 417 students to earn an Associate degree.
At Commencement, the College’s administration praised the graduates, including Miller, for their hard work and dedication toward achieving their degrees.

Local Student Named to Spring Dean’s List at Susquehanna University
SELINSGROVE, Pa.— Abigail Johnson, of Granville, Mass., was named to Susquehanna University’s dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester.
The dean’s list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for the semester. To qualify, students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours.
Johnson, a rising junior majoring in neuroscience, is a 2011 graduate of Northwest Catholic High School and the daughter of Don Johnson and Martha Lilja-Johnson.

Melissa Sheil, Southwick Resident, Named to Dean’s List at Providence College

PROVIDENCE, RI – Melissa Sheil, a resident of Southwick, MA and a member of the class of 2016, has been named to the Dean’s List at Providence College for the Spring 2013 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.
Providence College is the only college or university in the United States administered by the Dominican Friars. The Catholic, liberal arts college has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 3,900 students and offers degrees in 49 academic majors. Ryan M. Veillette of Westfield Graduates from Colby College
WATERVILLE, ME – Ryan M. Veillette of Westfield was one of 502 seniors who graduated from Colby College on May 26, receiving a bachelor of arts degree at the College’s bicentennial-year commencement in Waterville, Maine. Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Colby alumnus Gregory White Smith was the speaker.
Veillette, the son of Michael and Barbara Veillette of Westfield, Mass., majored in economics. He is a graduate of Hotchkiss School.
Commencement speaker Gregory White Smith urged the Class of 2013 to “embrace curiosity and open-mindedness and always keep a healthy dose of skepticism.”
“You have to practice sensitivity to others and always treat respectfully the people with whom you disagree,” he said. “And you have to develop a secure sense of who you are. Now if those things sound familiar, they should. Those are the things that you’ve been learning for the last four years.”
Colby President William D. Adams handed a diploma to each of the graduates.

Local Residents Achieve Spring, 2013 Dean’s List at Nichols College
DUDLEY, MA – The Office of the Registrar of Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts has announced the Dean’s List for the spring semester of 2013.
The Dean’s List gives recognition to those students who achieve high grades during a single semester. In order to be included in the Dean’s List, a student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.2 for at least 12 credit-hours and receive no grade below a C+ during the semester. Eleni Ottalagana of Southwick Named to the University of New Hampshire’s Dean’s List for the 2013 Spring Semester
DURHAM, NH – Eleni Ottalagana of Southwick has earned Highest Honors for the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year at the University of New Hampshire.
Students named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Hampshire are students who have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance. Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

Endicott announces Dean’s List students

Endicott College announces graduates
BEVERLY – The seventy-third commencement exercises of Endicott College were held on Saturday, May 24 with Colin Angle as the distinguished commencement speaker and recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. He is the Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of iRobot Corp, and one of the world’s leading authorities on mobile robots.
Over 725 degrees were conferred to students at the Master, Bachelor, and Associate degree levels. The following students received degrees:
Kristin M Halls is the daughter of Jeffrey & Julie Halls of Westfield. Kristin majored in Interior Design and received a Bachelor of Science degree.

Sarah Logan Graduates from Union College
SCHENECTADY, NY – Sarah Logan of Westfield graduated from Union College on Sunday, June 16 during the College’s 219th Commencement exercises.
Logan, a Biology major, received a Bachelor of Science degree.
Before the 472 Union College graduates received their degrees, civil rights leader U.S. Rep. John Lewis told the graduates to “find a way to get in the way.”
“You must leave here and get in trouble,” Lewis added. At age 23, he was a keynote speaker at the march in August 1963 where 250,000 people gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to hear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech.
Union College, founded in 1795 as the first college chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, offers programs in the liberal arts and engineering to 2,100 undergraduates of high academic promise and strong personal motivation. University of Rhode Island awarded almost 4,000 degrees at commencement

KINGSTON, RI – At the University of Rhode Island’s 127th Commencement on Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19, 2013, more than 3,200 undergraduate and 770 graduate students became the University’s newest alumni.
Students who received the honor summa cum laude graduated with a cumulative grade point average (GPA ) of at least 3.7; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.50; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.3.
The following residents were among the students who received their undergraduate or graduate degrees. Note that many students have received multiple degrees:
Beatrice A. Pratt of Granville received a BA in Spanish a BS in Microbiology summa cum laude
Christopher R. Burnham of Southwick received a BA in Journalism
Ryan M. Merritt of Southwick received a BS in Mechanical Engineering
William A. Lapenas of Southwick received a BS in Kinesiology cum laude
