Lois M. Olearcek

Westfield – Lois Mary (DiSanti) Olearcek, 77, (1941 – 2018) of Westfield, MA, passed away on September 13, 2018, at Heritage Hall South in Agawam, MA, after a long battle with renal disease. Born in Springfield, MA, on September 4, 1941, Lois was the daughter of the late Louis DiSanti and Mary (Martone) Bauchiero. Lois worked for several years in the food services area at Westfield State College and then as a hair stylist at several salons and nursing homes. Proud of her Italian heritage, Lois was known for her cooking and her love of family. A devoted single mother, Lois was happiest when her whole family was gathered together. Throughout her life, in addition to cooking and being with family, Lois enjoyed sewing, crafting and watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, as well as the Red Sox. She is survived by her loving twin sons, “my boys”, Patrick Olearcek and his wife, Julie, of Westfield, and Steven Olearcek and his wife, Sandy, of Somers, CT; three cherished grandchildren, Caitlyn and Erin Olearcek of Westfield and Jack Olearcek of Somers. Lois was predeceased by her sister Rachel Murray and her brother-in-law, William D. Murray, Jr. Lois is also survived by her nephews William Murray of Agawam and Donald Murray, and his wife, Suzanne, of Westfield, and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, who, while too numerous to name individually, know that she loved each and every one of them. Lois also leaves her life-long friend since the age of 9 years old, Elaine Walsh. Lois’ family is grateful to the nurses and staff at Heritage Hall South for the care and compassion given to Lois while she resided there and to the nurses and staff at the Heritage Dialysis Center for their care and compassion while Lois underwent dialysis treatments. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. All other services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the American Kidney Fund, Inc., 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or St. Mary’s Parish School Advancement Program, 27 Bartlett Street, Westfield, MA 01085.
