Longtime volunteer mourned in Southwick

SOUTHWICK – Southwick lost one of its longtime volunteers
with the passing of Nicholas Daniele.
Daniele, 69, was often seen volunteering at the Southwick Public Library and, as a 14-year member of the sewer committee, is credited for helping Southwick connect its sewer system.
Daniele died Dec. 8 and was remembered by the Southwick Select Board last night for his dedication to the town.
“He is going to be sorely missed,” said Chairman Fred Arnold.  “He helped make the town what it is.”
Chief Administrative Officer Karl Stinehart called Daniele a “hard worker.”
“He is going to be missed. He was a great volunteer and was a big part of bringing sewers to Southwick,” said Stinehart.
Born in Springfield, Daniele was a 1960 graduate of Springfield Technical High School and a 1971 graduate of Western New England
College where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era and married Lynda M. Busi in 1981.
Daniele worked for the Department of Defense as an engineer for 26 years and was employed as a certified nursing assistant CNA for O’Connell Professional Nursing Service since 2005.
Daniele enjoyed volunteering and working on model cars and trains.  He leaves his wife Lynda, son
Anthony and his wife Allison, sister Donna Riner and her husband Christopher, and many family and friends.
Daniele’s funeral is today in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Southwick.
