Loretta F. Tessier

WESTFIELD – Loretta F. (Desforges) Tessier went home peacefully to Heaven on August 14, 2012 while at home with family. Loretta was born on January 19, 1929 in Holyoke, Ma to Edward Desforges and Antoinette (Plant) Desforges. Loretta attended Precious Blood grammar and high school. Loretta worked for Saltman’s Clothing Store and Photomount. She worked for Jumbo Foods in Fairview and 22 years at Abdow’s Big Boy Restaurant in Fairview. Loretta met and married Paul L. Tessier on September 11, 1948; had 63 years of happy times and was blessed with a loving family. She is survived by her family which includes Paul E. Tessier, his child Gregory Tessier, his wife Amy Tessier and their children; Robert G. Tessier, his wife Lorrie Tessier and their children; Donald Tessier, his wife Gwen and their children; Lawrene G. Tessier, his friend Christine and his children; Michael J. Cwikla and his wife, Lucinda and his children, Cindy Webster and her husband Peter and their children; and Donna (Star) Allaby. In total there are 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Loretta was predeceased by Cynthia A. Cwikla who passed in 1995, and her brother Lionel E. Desforges in 2009. Loretta was a den mother, Scout mother, and co-president of the Aldenville PTA. Loretta also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but her greatest times were spent at her condo in Hampton Beach in the summer and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina in the winter. She enjoyed spending time with her family and the many Christmases that were spent at her home. She loved to go on cruises to Alaska, Rome, Paris and the Caribbean Islands. She will be sadly missed by many friends; some she treated like they were her children and you know who you are. She was an avid square dancer and round dancer at Dancing Shadows, Clover Leaves and Heavenly Rounds. She also was a singer in the Chicopee Falls Moose Choral Group. She will be sadly missed by all. The funeral for Loretta will be held on Tuesday August 21st at 9:30 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Peter’s Church, 60 State Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. Calling hours will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 4-7 pm.
