Luther J. Fisher

Westfield – flagLuther “Red” J. Fisher, 94, (1922-2016) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Governor’s Center. He was born in Easthampton, MA to the late John and Katherine (Klaus) Fisher and was a graduate of Westfield Trade High School. Red served his country with the United States Army during WWII from 1944-1946, he attained the rank of Private First Class and received the WWII Victory Medal and the EAME Theater Ribbon with 2 bronze stars. He was part owner of Whip City Tool and Die Company for many years. Red was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kiwanis and Shaker Farms CC. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. Luther is survived by his beloved wife, best friend and fishing companion of 69 years, Stefania K. “Stella” (Tarnauskas) Fisher, his loving daughters, Rosey Bonner and her husband Brian and Kathy “Kit” St. Mary and her husband Mike, all of Westfield, his brothers, Frederick Fisher and his wife Mary of Bremerton, CA, Raymond Fisher and his wife Patricia of Buzzards Bay, MA, John Fisher of Blandford, his sister, Anna Jasmin of Wilbraham, sister-in-law Dolly (Grimaldi) Fisher of Westfield, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Red was predeceased by his son, John L. Fisher in 2001, his sisters, Julia Jensen, Marlene Morgan, Willemina “Minnie” Fahey and Augusta “Jesse” Fay, and brothers, William, Daniel, Richard and Edward. His family would like to thank the staff at the Governor’s Center for the care and compassion shown to Red and his family. A Funeral Home service will be held on Wednesday at 11AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad ST. Westfield, MA followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield.
