12:40 a.m.: liquor law violation, Arnold Street, a supervisory detective reports a liquor law violation, a city ordinance violation citation was filed;
2:01 a.m.: suspicious activity, Church Street, a caller reports he observed male parties enter his parked van, the responding officer reports the caller said that although the vehicle was entered nothing was taken, a search of the area did not yield any suspects;
9:52 a.m.: assist citizen, Woodsong Road, a caller reports her two-year-old daughter locked herself in the bathroom and she can’t get her out, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
10:31 a.m.: fire, High Street, multiple callers report a structure fire, see story in the Monday edition of The Westfield News;
12:33 p.m.: incapacitated person, Highland View Street, a caller reports two male parties who may be intoxicated just relieved themselves on her front lawn and are now facedown in the grass laughing, the responding officers report they were able to contact the parents of one of the youths who came and took custody of both parties;
1:10 p.m.: animal complaint, Marla Circle, a caller reports she has taken custody of a stray dog, the responding animal control officer reports she transported the older female poodle dog to the municipal animal shelter;
4:12 p.m.: officer wanted, Broad Street, a caller reports she was advised by a friend that her husband is passing out in a bar and she is concerned he may try to drive home, the responding officer reports he spoke with the man at the bar and found him to be obviously incapacitated, the officer reports the bar owner approached as he was speaking with the man and assured the officer that the management would ensure that the man got home safely;
6:43 p.m.: loitering, Half Mile Falls Park, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he advised a woman not to allow her six-year-old son to skate at the park;
10:05 p.m.: suspicious vehicle, East Bartlett Street, a caller reports a vehicle which has been parked in the area repeatedly is believed to be occupied by persons engaged in narcotics transactions, the responding officer report that the vehicle was in place when he arrived and that a person standing nearby got into the vehicle when he saw the officer, the officer spoke with the two occupants who were known to him and said that they had been visiting a friend on the second floor, the officer eventually found that the second floor apartment was vacant and the caller advised him that the two men had been visiting the third floor apartment which he said is occupied by a known heroin addict, the officer concluded that he had probable cause to search the two men and the vehicle and, when asked, each said that they had a hypodermic needle in his pockets, the two men were found to be in possession of a bag of white powder which tested positive for heroin as well as a spoon and other supplies commonly used to administer heroin, Robert J. Leja, 29, and Daniel John Leja, 27, of 43 Simmons Brook Drive, were each arrested for possession of a Class A drug and for conspiracy to violate drug laws;

Monday, March 25, 2013
1:36 p.m.: identity fraud, Murray Avenue, a resident came to the station to report that her credit card company had notified her of suspicious charges, the responding officer reports the woman said that she checked and found that, unbeknownst to her, the card was missing, the woman said the charges were fraudulent and the account was closed;
2:16 p.m.: breaking and entering, Fowler Road, a caller reports his home was broken into and property was stolen, the responding detective reports that a door was kicked in to gain access and the house was ransacked, stolen were electronics, jewelry and cash;
3:11 p.m.: larceny, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a resident came to the station to report misuse of her debit card, the responding officer reports the woman said that she has discovered about $1,000 in unauthorized activity in her account and suspects that her former boyfriend stole the card and misused it;
5:18 p.m.: breaking and entering, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports his vehicle was broken into overnight, the responding officer reports the caller said that the vehicle had been locked when it was entered, the officer reports there are no signs of forcible entry but a GPS device and a full bottle of prescription medication were stolen;
5:30 p.m.:  larceny, Main Line Drive, an Athol resident came to the station to report that his sweatshirt and keys were stolen at his gym, the responding officer reps the man said that he had left his jacket containing his wallet and keys in an unsecured common coat room and returned after about an hour to find the jacket and contents were gone;
7:01 p.m.: found property, East Main Street, a Holyoke resident came to the station to surrender a found wallet, the responding officer reports he was not immediately able to contact the owner of the wallet which was held for safekeeping;
7:57 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Main Street a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle changing lanes without signaling, the vehicle was stopped and the registration was found to be expired, when the operator was advised of the required pre-tow inventory of the vehicle he told the officer there was a loaded handgun in the pickup truck, the man was found to be properly licensed to carry the gun, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard.
