JostromWESTFIELD – Marion (Wallace) Jostrom, born on November 13, 1915 in Newton, MA to F.A. and Ethel Stuart Wallace, passed away peacefully in Westfield, MA on October 28, 2013.
Marion was educated at Windsor Academy, Nova Scotia and Burdett College, Boston. In 1941 Marion married Wm. Chester Jostrom (Chet) at Christ Episcopal Church in Needham, MA, soon after Chet’s graduation from Acadia U. NS, while he studied for the ministry at Andover Newton Theological Seminary. They lived in 7 New England towns, where Chet fulfilled his pastoral career. After his death in 1971, Marion made her home in Westfield & Southwick.
Known to family and friends as Mimi, she was a well-loved member of many communities because of her kindness and spirited personality. She was an avid reader who enjoyed writing poetry, playing bridge, and rooting for the Red Sox. She traveled in the USA and Europe with friends, especially her best friend and sister, the late Nancy Wallace Carey, of Avonport, NS. Marion belonged to UCC Second Congregational Church, Westfield, one of her husband’s parishes. Mimi, a loving mother and devoted grandmother, introduced her grandchildren to the world through books, maps, and her adventure stories. She often told them she had a Master’s of Common Sense.
