WESTFIELD – Mary E. (Monfette) Hayes, 53, passed away June 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Holyoke, MA. Mary was the daughter of the late Rosemary S. Cilio and the late Roger E. Monfette.
Mary moved to Missouri where she had three children, Jennifer Avery of Russell, James Avery of Westfield and her middle child, Christopher Avery who passed away in 2010. Mary leaves two stepchildren, Traci Hayes of Florida and Eric Hayes of Florida. Mary moved to Florida in 2002 where she met her husband, Woodrow Hayes and together came back to Westfield.
She is survived by her stepmother, Jean Monfette and her stepfather, Charles Cilio. Mary leaves five grandchildren, Katelyn Marx, Andrew Avery, J.J. Marx, Dominic Avery and Lilliana Avery. Mary will be deeply missed by her sisters and brothers, Kathie Preuss of Westfield, Patrice Dennis of Arkansas, Maggie Monterosso of Florida, Chip Cilio of California, Roger Monfette Jr. of CT. and Daniel Monfette of CT.
Mary’s devotion to her grandchildren led her to become heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America where she was a den leader and committee member of Cub Scout Pack 108 out of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Westfield. Her contagious laugh and ability to make those around her laugh will be forever in our hearts.
Mary asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Cub Scout Pack 108, c/o Bill Fouche, 51 Mockingbird Lane, Westfield, MA 01085.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 60 Broad Street, Westfield MA, Saturday, June 15, at 3:00 p.m.
