WESTFIELD: Mary Ellen (Morrison) Ponte, 67, passed away at Baystate Medical Center on Monday, December 1, 2014 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Medford, MA to the late Donald and Esther (Bennett) Morrison. She attended Belmont, MA schools, and graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. She also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Anna Maria College. She spent most of her working career as a director of nursing in the home health care field. She was a resident of Westfield for more than 40 years. A true and loyal friend to all, she never hesitated to help those in need. She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Nickerson and her husband James, and their children Andrew and Kyle all of Boca Raton, FL; two sisters, Nancy Morrison of Cambridge, MA, Phyllis Pheeney and her husband Walter, of Michigan; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours for Mary Ellen will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Southwick Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 624 College Highway (Highway 10/202), Southwick. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 9:30 am at the First Congregational Church of Westfield, 18 Broad Street, Westfield. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA at the convenience of the family.
