Mary T. Meagher

WESTFIELD: Mary T. (Fitzgerald) Meagher 81, of Westfield passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 17, 2014 surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren following a long illness. Mary was the daughter of the late Francis and Mary Fitzgerald of Castlegregory, Ireland and Westfield, MA. Mary was born on January 31, 1933. Raised in Westfield, she attended St. Mary’s grammar and high school, graduating in 1950. After graduation, she was employed for ten years by the former First National Bank of Westfield before becoming a devoted wife, full time homemaker and a wonderful mother to her four children. She spent many memorable summers with family and friends at her vacation home in Ocean Park, ME. Mary will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially by her husband, children and grandchildren whom she loved and cherished. In addition to her parents, Mary was pre-deceased by her two brothers; Gerald and Francis, and three sisters; Margaret Corcoran, Doris Fitzgerald and Anna Garvey. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, J. Paul Meagher, her son Michael Meagher and his wife Donna of Tolland, CT; and her three daughters; Mary Florek and her husband Jim, Kathryn Meagher DeLand, Ann Marie Cole and her husband Ron all of Westfield. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren; Bryan, Kristen and Andrew Meagher; Jennifer, Emily and Christopher Florek, David and Samantha Deland; Matthew, Steven and Megan Cole. Mary also leaves her brother Edward Fitzgerald and her sister Katherine Avery both of Westfield and several nieces and nephews all of who she loved deeply. Our family would like to thank the Noble Hospital Visiting Nurses and Hospice and the Westfield Fire Department EMT’s for their kindness and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:30 AM from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
