Monday, May 27, 2013
6:55 a.m.: animal complaint, Broad Street, a patrol officer reports a small white dog is running loose, the dog was captured and its owners were notified but when they did not promptly respond the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
10:52 a.m.: vandalism, Edgewood Apartments, 134 Union St., a caller reports two tires on her husband’s vehicle were slashed overnight;
12:12 p.m.: vandalism, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports a tire on her grandparent’s vehicle was slashed overnight, the responding officer reports the caller said that a group of youths had been seen in the neighborhood;
12:22 p.m.: larceny, Dartmouth Street, a teen aged caller reports that a known contemporary stole $20 from him, the responding officer reports he spoke with the suspect’s mother and the boy returned the cash, the officer reports the victim was satisfied with the outcome;
1:41 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller reports a woman is stealing from an East Main Street store, the responding officer reports the caller said that a woman was found stealing from a donations bin and left before the officer arrived, the officer reports he was unable to immediately contact the owner of the vehicle the suspect left in;
2:10 p.m.: vandalism, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports a tire on her vehicle was slashed overnight, the responding officer reports he found that a single tire had been slashed on each of three vehicle’s parked in the apartment complex’s parking lot;
3:21 p.m.: fire, Darby Drive, a caller reports seeing a column of smoke, the respond firefighters report unauthorized burning was found at a Southwick Road address, the fire was extinguished;
4:35 p.m.: fraud, Zephyr Drive, a detective reports he discovered that a resident’s computer has been hacked and his accounts are being used in an online scam, the detective asked that a patrol officer notify the victim of the situation, the responding officer reports he was not able to immediately make contact with the victim;
7:15 p.m.: larceny, East Mountain View Apartments, 138 E. Mountain Road, a caller reports her mother’s watch was stolen, the respond officer reports a caller said that a gold watch was missing but other items of obvious value were not disturbed, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau;
7:20 p.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, a caller reports a customer left a gas station without making payment for fuel pumped which was valued at $95, the officer reports he was not able to immediately locate the vehicle;
7:38 p.m.: vandalism, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports tires on her vehicle were slashed overnight, the responding officer reports he added the incident to his report of similar complaints in the area;
8:47 p.m.: fire, Paper Mill Road, a patrol officer reports smoke in the area, the officer reports the fire was contained in an outdoor burn barrel and no police or fire departments services were needed;

7:16 a.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, a caller reports a customer left a gas station without making payment for fuel pumped which was valued at more than $38, the officer reports the station’s security video will be reviewed;
10:46 a.m.: larceny, Turnpike Industrial Road, a call reports a larceny from business property, the responding officer reports the caller said that steel racking cross bars in eight, ten and twelve foot lengths which are valued at $20-$50 each were stolen, the complainant said that a friend told him that a pickup truck loaded with bars was seen leaving the area and the truck looks like one which is sometimes seen parked near the intersection of Union Street and Union Avenue, the officer reports the theft remains under investigation;
1:14 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Delmont Avenue, a caller reports her estranged husband may be in violation of a protective order, the responding officer reports the woman said that she saw the man’s vehicle parked at a coffee shop near her workplace when she arrived at work and subsequently saw him pull the vehicle into a parking lot across the street from her workplace and then get out and look under the hood, the woman said that he also looked toward her workplace, the officer found that the parking lot was within the 100 yard exclusion zone around her workplace and a criminal complaint was filed;
4:28 p.m.: larceny, Union Street, a caller reports a bicycle was stolen from his mother’s property, the responding officer reports a search of the area did not yield any suspects;
4:38 p.m.: disturbance, Main Street, multiple callers report a disturbance at a donut store, the responding officer reports he discovered that a female party had accosted a person she suspects is responsible for a larceny from a relative and that a relative joined her in confronting the other person, witnesses report that the man appeared to attempt to disengage himself from the confrontation but was attacked by the two other parties who knocked him to the ground and were kicking him, the witnesses said that the male assailant produced a knife but was disarmed by a bystander when he appeared to be about to stab the other man, Catherine E. Cassiday, 42, and Nicholas C. Krupa, 24, both of 60 Danek Drive, were each arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a shod foot) and disorderly conduct, police report that an additional charge of possession of a dangerous weapon during a breach of the peace is pending;
6:10 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a woman he believed to have a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender operating a vehicle, the vehicle was stopped and the woman’s license status was confirmed, the vehicle’s registration was found to have been revoked for lack of insurance, Kaitlin Lois Palazzi, 21, of 108 Elizabeth Ave., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender and for operating an unregistered motor vehicle;
7:29 p.m.: disturbance, Noble Hospital, 115 W. Silver St., a caller reports he was assaulted at the hospital, a nurse said that no police service was needed but an officer was dispatched and learned that while en route three patients had begun to fight, the combatants were separated and advised that they could seek a criminal complaint at the district court if they chose to;
7:39 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports he encountered a person operating an unregistered motorized scooter, the vehicle was transported to the police impound yard;
11:10 p.m.: breaking and entering, Miller Street, referred to the Detective Bureau.
